It can be hard to find a delicious and filling meal for under $10 these days, but there are some great places at UBC Vancouver where you can get tasty and nourishing eats without breaking the bank. We've compiled a list of food outlets that offer a win-win combination of budget-friendly options and yummy food - read on to discover some hidden gems on campus!
Fooood & Fooood 2.0
Fooood offers healthy meals to UBC students for the low price of $3. Vegetarian and meat-based options are available each day, and their new extended hours make it easier to stop in for lunch or early dinner. Both locations operate 10:30am - 4:30pm M-F, at the Earth Sciences Building and IRC.
Sushi at Pacific Poké
Sushi is still one of the most affordable meal options around, and the new maki rolls at Pacific Poké are no exception! You can pick up a California Roll for $5, or a Veggie Roll for $4.50 - open 10am-8pm, M-F at UBC Life.
Healthy Bowls at Gather
Gather Dining Hall at Vanier Residence serves a rotating selection of healthy and filling plant-based bowls like the Havana Tofu Bowl, for around $8. Available for lunch and dinner, from 11am-2pm and 3pm-9pm, 7 days a week.
Sprouts Cafe has been serving hot lunches on the UBC campus since 2008. Entirely staffed by student volunteers, Sprouts is a great place to grab an affordable meal for under $5 such as shepherd's pie or hearty stew, topped off with one of their famous brownies! Open 9:30am-4:30pm, M-Th in the basement of UBC Life Building.
Triple Os Tuesdays
One of the best deals on campus! Get a tasty Original Burger at Triple Os every Tuesday for the low price of $5.99! Open from 10am - 10pm at the David Lam Research Centre, 2015 Main Mall.
Perugia's Breakfast Sandwich
This popular breakfast sandwich is akin to a closed-faced Eggs Benedict, complete with poached egg, capocollo, and arugula drizzled in balsamic glaze and served on an English muffin. Perfect for breakfast on the go! Available M-F between 8am-10am at Perugia, 2350 Health Sciences Mall.
Food Hub Market
Cooking for yourself is often the most healthy and affordable way to eat, and the new Food Hub Market is a great source on campus for low-cost groceries. Stock up on fresh produce, pantry staples, dairy and canned goods, every M-W-F from 1-7pm at CIRS. This pilot market runs for 9 weeks until April 30th. More info at foodhub.ubc.ca.
